Planning

A happy family ski holiday means a certain degree of organisation.

One of the first decisions is whether to travel with a tour operator or to go it alone with your own tailor-made independent itinerary.  You can see our views at Tour Operator vs Independent Itinerary and the various transport options in our Travel pages.

In your search for that perfect trip, you’ve probably already researched the resorts, analysed ski brochures, compared prices of ‘hidden’ extras (lift passes, equipment hire, etc) and checked the latest News at www.familyskinews.com.

Lake Louise in Canada – a popular choice

So, once you’ve chosen your resort, selected a hotel and picked a tour operator/independent itinerary, what’s next?

There’s an entire avalanche of other factors to consider if you’re aiming for a stress-free, fun-filled holiday right from the very start.  Advance planning is all-important for a successful ski trip.

This section of the FamilySkiNews website will help you plan – before you leave home, on the journey and once you reach your resort.   It’s jam packed with tips on such topics as:

Skiing creates a hearty appetite

keeping the costs down

keeping kids happy on the journey

ski schools

childcare

suggestions for non-skiers

feeding and entertaining everyone

There’s a section devoted to accommodation, where you can check out our featured hotels and chalets or simply complete a brief form and leave it to us to come up with some bespoke suggestions for you.

In the new year we’ll be looking at preparing your children for school skiing trips, as our 9-year old son, George, sets out abroad for the first time on his own.
