More summer ski resorts open

Teresa Fisher

There’s no denying, 2013 is a brilliant year for summer skiing on the glaciers in Europe– thanks to a long, cold winter with masses of snow and the late arrival of summer!

Les 2 Alpes glacier – perfectly pisted and ready for action

Some glaciers are already up and running for their summer season.  This weekend, two more are scheduled to open: the Molltal glacier (from 21 June) in Austria and, Europe’s largest skiable glacier, Les 2 Alpes in France (22 June-31 August).

To see which other resorts are currently open, click on our feature Where to Ski in June.

Meanwhile, across the pond in Canada, the Whistler Blackcomb Wizard Express Chairlift is also re-opening on 22 June, servicing the Horstman Glacier for summer snowsports until 28 July.  This glacier boasts some of the world’s best summer terrain parks.
