Glorious gold for Amy in Vancouver

Exactly one year before the next winter Olympic Games in Sochi 2014, Amy Williams has today been announced as the first official Team GB 2014 Ambassador by the British Olympic Association.

Most people will remember Amy as our sole gold medallist from Vancouver 2010 in the skeleton, although some of you may have seen her more recently alongside Graham Bell and Ed Leigh on BBC TV’s popular series, Ski Sunday

Amy won Britain’s first individual Olympic winter gold medal in 30 years at theVancouver 2010 Winter Games.  The previous one was in 1980, when Robin Cousins took the men’s figure skating title at Lake Placid.

Amy was also the first British women in 58 years to become an Olympic Winter Games Champion.  And she did it in style, creating a new track record at the Whistler Sliding Centre.

As a Team GB 2014 Ambassador Williams is tasked to inspire everyone hoping to be part of the tea at the Sochi Games, cheering them on at events, assisting with raising their media profile and providing motivational support.
