Easter snow forecast

Teresa Fisher

Here’s our snow forecast for the Easter weekend.  The weather has turned in the Alps.  Instead of sunshine, it’s snowing above 2000m, with rainfall lower down.  Chamonix (France) is reporting around 30cm of fresh powder overnight; with 22cm on the Pitztaler glacier (Austria); and 20cm in Courmayeur (Italy) and Saas Fee (Switzerland). Temperatures are overcast and mild and more snow is forecast for Sunday.

There’s still plenty of skiing available – especially in the Northern Alps.  If you’re looking to sneak in one last swift trip to the mountains, we recommend that you consult our recommendations for spring skiing and aim high (or better still, for the best snow conditions, head to Scandinavia or Canada!)

Here’s a video sent to us from the Tirol earlier in the week – their last snow report of the season – showing the excellent conditions still to be found at altitude:

Happy Easter skiing from us all at FamilySkiNews.com!
