Cheap holidays

Teresa Fisher

“Cheap holidays” is the most searched term for travellers looking for holidays online, according to a report by Greenlight Search Engine Marketing company.  This clearly shows that, in this period of austerity, cost is an increasingly important factor for holiday makers.

Over a period of a month this summer, 2.7 million searches were made with holiday-related key words.  One fifth of them used “cheap holidays”, and “6% searched for “direct holidays” to find what they were looking for. “Ski”, “package”, “all-inclusive” and “last-minute” holidays accounted for 15% between them.

Here at FamilySkiNews.com, we know only too well how costs can mount up when planning a family skiing holiday and so, as well as giving you advice on where, when and how best to get your family to the mountains, our website is geared specifically to help you keep your costs down.

To get you started, here are some basic tips on keeping the cost of your ski holiday down from FSN’s financial advisor.

Next… don’t worry about buying all the ski kit.  We find that friends who ski are always willing to lend you kit.  Get organised and buy it in advance in the end-of-season sales or purchase second-hand clothing (on e-bay for instance).  You’ll find some more cost-cutting tips regarding skiwear at the end of our What to pack for first-time skiers guide.

But best of all… FamilySkiNews.com is the website to find all the best-value family ski holidays.  Over the next few months, as temperatures drop and the ski season starts to hot up, we will be featuring the best-value skiing packages here from all the major tour operators, including Crystal (Britain’s leading ski operator), Thomson, Powder Byrne, Inghams, Virgin and others, together with excellent self-catering offers from Pierre & Vacances and other companies.

Finally, remember that all our reports are fiercely independent.  With the exception of a few clearly-marked ‘guest posts’, we tell it as it is, not how the tour operators want us to report it!

So be sure to click back soon to see the first of those special bargain “cheap holidays” in the snow… the best get snapped up swiftly!
