Monarch adds Luton-Munich route

Teresa Fisher

Monarch is starting a four-times weekly London Luton to Munich service, starting on 21 September… just in time for the Bavarian capital’s celebrated Oktoberfest, which runs from 22 September until 7 October this year.

After the world’s largest beer festival is over, Munich provides easy access for skiers and boarders to some of the most popular resorts in Germany and Austria– including Garmisch, Ellmau, Zell am Ziller and Mayrhofen.

FamilySkiNews.com reported about Monarch’s other new regional ski flights to Germany here.   We are especially pleased about this latest route as our Content Editor, Teresa Fisher, lived in Munich for many years and still regards it as her second home.

This season is the airline’s first foray into the ski market.  Their aim is to offer a comprehensive coverage of the Alps by flying to four key ski destinations:
Grenoble in France (easy access to the western Alps)
Friedrichshafen in Germany (near the northern Alps)
Innsbruck in Austria (ideal for all Austrian resorts).
Munich in Germany (near the central and eastern Alps).

Many popular ski resorts are less than 1 ½-hours transfer away from all four destinations.

Monarch are also offering flights to Milan, Venice and Verona this winter – ideal routes for anyone looking to ski in Italy and the southern Alps.

To celebrate their new ski venture, Monarch are offering £10 off return flights, if you enter the code SKI2012 on their website when booking.

Unlike some of the other low-cost carriers, they’re also offering free ski/board carriage on all their flights to their four new ski destinations or any of their Italian routes – that’s a saving of £39.98 per person – if you book before 31 December 2012.
